> COMING UP
Then, now and later

Welcome to this varied edition of Op Koers, in which we look back and ahead. For example, one of the retrospectives is about a ship that sank off Texel around 1590. It was discovered in 1984 and was found to be remarkably well preserved. Researcher Geke Burger explains. In this edition of Op Koers, we also look ahead to how shipping can become greener. Naturally, this can be achieved by moving away from diesel and fuel oil, but there are other options too. More efficient and smarter sailing, for example. There is still a lot of work to do. The same applies to the new pension rules. You can read a detailed article about it in this magazine. Behind the scenes, we are working hard to prepare for the transition to the new rules on 1 January 2026. The Dutch Central Bank has to approve our plans for that switch. That is an ambitious project, which my team and I at the administrative office are currently working on. In this edition of Op Koers, you can also read stories about current events. Pensioner Hans Weerlink talks about his retirement. And Egge Kloosterboer is a former seafarer with the Holland America Line. He talks about his work at the Port of Vancouver in Canada. You can read about this and more in this edition of Op Koers. I hope you enjoy reading this new number!
